fonts-taml-tamu software package provides TAMu family of non Unicode fonts for Tamil script, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install fonts-taml-tamu
fonts-taml-tamu is installed in your system.
Make ensure the fonts-taml-tamu package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep fonts-taml-tamu *
You will get with fonts-taml-tamu package name, version, architecture and description in a table
